Matemo Island Resort is an unspoilt, unexplored island paradise, with beautiful white beaches and thousands of palm trees swaying in the breeze.
The Matemo Resort accommodation consists of a total of 24 thatched chalets with en-suite bathrooms fitted with indoor shower and separate bath as well as a private outdoor shower.
All chalets are beautifully furnished and are equipped with air conditioning, outdoor hammock, ceiling fans, fully mosquito screened, hair dryer, mini bar, personal electronic safe, satellite TV and the convenience of tea/coffee making facilities.
Chalets are set separately from the main building where you'll dine on sublime local seafood fare, relax at the swimming pool and enjoy exotic cocktails at the bar.
Activities at the Matemo Island are:
Game Fishing using either a 19ft Cobtra Cat or a 31ft Gulfcraft. All fishing tackle is provided
Scuba Diving at Matemo is considered as some of the best in the world. , Sunset Cruise and
Snorkling trips are conducted either from the 31ft Dolphin or 36ft Tourer. .
Watersports - a designated ski boat with the following equipment: Slalom skis, Tandem skis, Wakeboard, Knee board, Tube, Banana boat (6 man). These activities are charged at per 15-minute intervals and start from the beach either in
front of the main public areas or the activity center - depending on weather and tides. The actual activity is conducted in relatively shallow water away from the resort so that people can enjoy the beach without the noise of the ski boat.
Non-motorised Watersports - a host of non–motorised activities that include:
Hobie Cat, Sea Kayaks, Gypsy Sailing Dinghy, Windsurfers, Volley Ball, Snorkeling, Swing Ball, Frisbees, Beach Bats, Cricket Sets. Tuition is available for those wishing to learn to sail the Hobie Cat.
Ibo Island Trips The excursion to Ibo Island consists of a 20-25 minute boat trip from Matemo, a walk around the town
of Ibo and to the fort. Historical information about Ibo is given during the walk-around and locally-made jewellery is available for purchase at the fort. The entire excursion takes about 3 hours. Tide-depending, we stop at the sandbar between Ibo and Matemo for a late afternoon swim. The trip departs from Matemo Beach at 14h00 and returns at about 17h30.
